Hit Productions Names Arnold Buena Executive Creative Director

Over the last 35 years, Hit Productions built a reputation as the Philippines' premier music and audio production house. This didn't happen overnight. It was earned one project at a time, by the people who showed up to solve a brief, chase the perfect sound, and relentlessly push every piece of work past 'good enough'.
This year, Hit is formalizing a long-standing truth about the creative backbone behind some of its most celebrated work: Arnold Buena, one of the studio's most prolific composers, has been leading it for years. He now steps up as their Executive Creative Director (ECD).
It's a deliberate move. As artificial intelligence (AI) gains momentum in reshaping what creative execution looks like across the industry—making it easier for anybody to create—one thing that cannot be automated is judgment. The human value comes in reading between a brief’s lines to know what clients are really asking for, knowing when a piece of music is truly finished, or even when to push past an obvious choice.
Solidifying an ECD role at Hit Productions is the organization’s commitment to human creative leadership at a time when the industry–brands, agencies, and especially consumers–remains conflicted about generative AI and artificial work.
As Hit Productions CEO and Managing Partner Vic Icasas put it, "By having an ECD seat, this is us betting on creative judgment." And through Arnold’s appointment, Hit bridges its 35-year heritage with a new era of AI-driven creative direction where human judgment matters more than ever.
For brands and agencies who've worked with Hit before, there's a good chance Arnold's name is already familiar. He is Hit's most decorated composer, attached to nearly all of the production house’s major local and international award wins, and clients regularly ask for him personally.
But what makes him right for this particular role isn't just the trophy case. Vic described it this way: "Arnold is capable of raising the standards on other people's work and not just his own, while still constantly learning from our younger composers and from new music genres. He's someone that is always willing to embrace something new, and AI will just be another tool in his arsenal."

Ask him what he's proudest of, and Arnold doesn't point just to the awards. He points to the moments the team took a risk: unconventional instrumentation, a musical ending that doesn't resolve the way you'd expect, or even orchestra players brought in to give a track more edge and a more premium feel.
For Arnold, the announcement was a genuine surprise. "I never expected to have this career path as a music composer," he said. "For me, agency ECDs take creative lead and vision, so I'm honored to have been entrusted with this role [for Hit]."
As he takes on this new role, Arnold says his priority is clear: "To equip myself with skills that better elevate our team, and grow the creative craft and business impact of sonic branding.”
It's an extension of a philosophy he's held for a while—one built on collaboration, craft, and a willingness to take risks. "Collaboration creates good creativity," Arnold said. "To be obsessed with craft and the quality of our work, and whenever possible, to push beyond what is safe."
Looking ahead, Arnold is most excited about the ability to network with other creative leaders, working more closely with Hit’s other creative teams like post-production and voice casting, and exploring how AI fits into Hit Productions' process—without replacing the humanity that got us here in the first place. "All these things for sure will push us beyond our 35th year in the industry," he said.
For clients, the benefit is immediate: the same creative mind behind Hit Productions’ most awarded work now oversees every brief that comes through the door, not just the ones Arnold personally composes. It's tighter creative oversight that offers brand and agency partners a proven hand at a time when clients are increasingly asking who—or what—is actually making their work.
As Arnold steps up to lead Hit's creative vision, his appointment marks the first of several strategic moves to scale the studio’s technical and commercial capabilities. Thirty-five years in, Hit Productions isn't just protecting its legacy. It’s still evolving, still experimenting, and now building the team to lead what comes next.
